Words

Training camp has been a time where God has shown me things I didn’t know about myself. Some good things and how He has made even me a beautiful creation, but also some bad things and ways Im not surrendering to Him. I am thankful for seeing the bad, and the grace He has given me in surrendering those things to Him. Im thankful He doesn’t expect an immediate switch into surrender but is willing to walk with me through that process.

Ive also made some great friends. Ive found people that bring out the funniest part of myself, the calmest part of myself, and my truest self. I praise the Lord I get to spend eight more months with them, but thats already too short of a time.

I cant wait to see what God has for me after the Race but until then I am soaking in every moment.

Schedule

Wake up: 7:00

This is optimistic, its usually 7:40

Team Selah meeting: 7:45

Half of the time we just hang and the other half we check up on each other. Also the only time we get to poop inside.

Breakfast: 8:00

Cereal, oatmeal, beans. Meals are a good time for communion

Team Bible study: 9:00

We are going through Romans. We cant use any outside knowledge which makes it more insightful and brings things up that I never saw before.

Worship/session 1: 10:00

We have learned about spiritual gifts, spiritual forces, Gods character, forgiveness, our identity in Christ, and many more topics.

Lunch: 12:30

Another time I try to use to talk to people I don’t usually talk to.

Free time: 1:00

I usually hang out with people during this time and dry to deepen relationships

Session 2: 2:30

During this one its hard to stay awake. Its especially hard to focus recently but easy to laugh. Shout out to Alexis. Im also and instigator with a log in my eye.

Team time: 4:30

We hang out as a team and do stuff like spike ball or just chat.

Dinner: 6:00

By this time in the day Im usually done trying to talk to people I don’t usually talk to and I sit with some really good friends.

Evening activity (occasionally): 7:30

Sometimes its worship, sometimes its volleyball, sometimes its a movie. Its usually something different and optional.

Bedtime: 9:00

This is also optimistic but its a time where I sit on a raised porch and enjoy Gods beauty in creation. Ill listen to a podcast, read a book, journal, or just sit. I usually have to steal this time for myself.

  1. Hey Shep. What a growth in Christ you are experiencing! One thing to remember, God’s transforming us is a painful process but so well worth it! God must rip out all we have made ourselves to be from the influence of the world so He can saturate us with His supernatural love. That is why we are here that God can love His world through us.

  2. I am thankful how patient He is in my correction. But when we are surrendered the transformation is so good.

  3. So pumped to see you growing and utilizing such an important time in your life! Glad to hear you’re making great friends and hopping on that operating table and allowing The Great Surgeon to do his work! Love you bro!

  4. Thanks Shepherd for sharing all of the information you are taking in! Love the concept of God’s Grace as we work on surrendering ourselves to Him. He is so faithful! Praying for team Selah!
